The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

Welcome back! I hope today's short devotional and prayer finds you embracing the beautiful connections in your life. Today, we're diving into a topic that touches me personally: our need for others. It's easy to forget that God designed us for relationships in a world that often celebrates self-reliance. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed or simply considering your connections, today's prayer speaks to the heart of relational health.
As you read, I encourage you to reflect on the support systems in your own life and how they reflect God's love for you. Let's explore together how breaking free from the "I can do it all" myth can lead us to a richer, more fulfilling life as God intended.
Short Devotional
In the book of Exodus, we find Moses, a man God chose to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Despite his initial hesitation, Moses learned a crucial lesson about relational health from his father-in-law, Jethro. When Jethro saw Moses trying to judge all the people's disputes by himself, he wisely advised him to trust his responsibilities and build a support system.
Like Moses, we often fall into the trap of thinking we must carry all our burdens alone. But God made us to connect with others. Have you considered how your life might change if you embraced the support systems God has placed around you? As we think about this short lesson, let's remember that asking for help isn't being weak. It's following God's plan for us to rely on each other.
Read more about this in Exodus 18:13-27.
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today, humbled by Your wisdom and love. Lord, You said it's not good for us to be alone, and I confess that I often forget this truth. I've fallen into the trap of thinking I can do everything alone, but Your Word reminds me that this isn't Your plan for me.
God, I thank You for creating us as relational beings. Help me see and enjoy how everything and everyone is connected, as You made us. Open my eyes to see the helpers You've placed in my life, just as You provided a suitable helper for Adam.
Father, I ask for Your guidance in breaking free from the "I can do it all" mindset. Please give me the courage to be vulnerable, to reach out, and to accept help from others. Remind me that in my weakness, Your strength is perfect and manifests through the people You've surrounded me with.
Lord Jesus, You modeled perfect relational health during Your time on earth. You surrounded Yourself with disciples, friends, and family. Help me follow Your example. Please give me the wisdom to build and nurture meaningful relationships and the wisdom to recognize unhealthy patterns in my interactions with others.
Holy Spirit, work in my heart to cultivate humility. Help me see that asking for help isn't a sign of weakness but a step towards the interdependence You designed us for. Give me the strength to let go of my pride and embrace the support and love of others.
Father, I pray for healing in my relationships. Bring restoration where there is brokenness. Create connections where there is distance. Help me to be a source of Your love and grace to others, just as You've called me to be.
In Jesus' name, I thank You for Your promise to provide. As I lean into Your design for relational health, I will experience the fullness of life You intend for me. Help me to live in the truth that together, we are stronger, more whole, and a better reflection of Your image.
Amen.
